Great light for our gazebo.

I hardwired this canopy light into a free-standing gazebo I recently built. The ability to alter the color temperature is great because I prefer bright (cool) white for task lighting and warm lighting for ambiance when we're outside having a fire. The light gives off very little heat so I have no concerns with mounting it directly to lumber. Very nice light!

Good Brightness and Quality

I got several canopy lights so here's my boilerplate preface:I wanted new lighting for my workshop which has 12 foot high ceilings and is lit by flourescents. Most high bay lights were overkill for my situation so I was looking for different options. It seemed that canopy lights would fit my needs.I was to find however that canopy lights are generally not easy to install conventionally (and in accordance with electrical wiring code) because of the way the wiring exits the fixture. Canopy wiring comes out the back of the light and is waterproofed, so the wires aren't made to be pulled back into the light fixture. The easiest installation would be where you could mount the light and then make the electrical connections after. But electrical code dictates that connections be made inside an enclosure and that's difficult if you're mounting the canopy light to an enclosed ceiling light box because the connections need to be made inside the box before the light is fully mounted. The challenge is routing the wiring and connections to the electrical supply through the 1 inch cutout on the mounting plate. Canopy lights include a suspension loop you can hang the light from when connecting the wires. But then you have to push the excess wire back through the mounting plate hole as you tilt the fixture up to mount it trying not to pinch the wires between the back of the light and the mounting plate. So overall mounting canopy lights onto ceiling electrical boxes if far from ideal although it can be done. Of course there are alternative mounting methods that can be used.[end of boilerplate]This light is rated at 60 watts, but my Kill A Watt meter showed this light drawing 55 watts. It also purports to contain 135 lumens per watt LEDs, which make them brighter than regular LEDs, but not as bright as some of the high brightness 150 lumens per watt LEDs in other canopy lights. However, between the varying wattages and the LED brightness claims and the inability to verify lumens claims I don't put a lot of weight in lumens claims. It also has the nice feature to select color temperatures between 5000K, 4000K and 3000K.This light puts the LEDs in a square around the perimeter of the light. For some reason I prefer the look of this arrangement although from a lighting perspective I don't think there's much difference between this LED layout and the conventional layouts. However, keep the LED layout in mind if you want multiple canopy lights to match each other. This is a quality LED canopy light that I found perfect for my use as a workshop light.

Good Quality LED Canopy Light - Cast Aluminum Housing - (3) Settings - 8,100 LM

Ordered this 60 Watt LED Canopy Light with Photocell - 36W - 48W - 60W Adjustable - AC100-277V- 8100 LM for my barn. I just ran electric from house to barn to have access to electricity for some hand tools, and a light to see at night. I just needed one good light for center of barn to light up whole barn floor & wall shelving. While looking and shopping online and comparing lights, types, quality, build, and brightness, I chose this light and ordered it. It was exactly the one I needed. Also, it puts out amazing brightness for just one light. I have it on the 60 watt setting. I like the cast aluminum housing base. This light is designed to directly attach to ceiling. I just attached and secured a 10"X 2" board to rafter and it bolted right up. It came already pre-drilled holes to install. It shines downward and lights up my whole barn. Now I can see at night with no flashlight!. The 50K hour life span will last me many years. It's UL & DLC approved. It comes with a (5) year warranty and that alone gives peace of mind.
